The Nitty Gritty Series explores the finer aspects of chosen exhibits in Campus Martius and The Ohio River Museums. Presenters who have a special interest in their chosen topic will share their stories and expertise with participants. This program is for adults. Students ages 12-18 must have parental supervision.
July begins with a “BOOM” as participants learn about Civil War artillery. Beardsley’s Battery will discuss cannons, mortars and projectiles right down to the nitty-gritty. Reproductions of a cannon and mortar will be charged and fired. Examples of balls, shells and canisters will be displayed as the history and development of each is presented.
