Themes for Each Day

Visit Local Burial Mounds and study artifacts from different Native American Eras. Create beadwork based on museum relics. Handle animal pelts, play Snowsnake and hear stories inside a real tee pee.

Campers will take a trip on the Valley Gem sternwheeler and learn about life on a towboat. Campers will learn how horses were useful to 19th century “Buckeyes,” and have an opportunity to work with their team to pole a “Parking Lot Flatboat.”

On this day, campers will experience pioneer life through hands-on activities. Drill holes with a “pump drill,” dip a beeswax candle, see a musket demonstration and dress in pioneer clothing. Learn how pioneers preserved and prepared food, and how they repurposed items for daily life.

Watch and catalog wildlife along the Muskingum River. Learn about what lives in, under and along the water. Catch bugs, make animal track castings and learn the importance of interdependence along our rivers and streams.
