Campus Martius Museum invites you to the home of General Rufus Putnam to meet with some of Marietta’s citizens from the early 19th century.
Life on the frontier was not always hard work. Music provided relief and comfort for many of the early settlers. Join us at Campus Martius Museum as those times come alive once again as we visit some of the early settlers enjoying a visit by a traveling violinist, who will offer up a few tunes to lift their spirits. Our guest will be Larry Spisak who will entertain throughout the day in the Rufus Putnam house and offer a special program on music of the frontier at 2 o’clock.
Larry Spisak, retired Monongahela River Lockmaster, has been a long time student of music played on the frontier. He often can be found playing with well-known groups such as Curmudgeon and Morgan’s Glade as well as around the campfire at historic events. Join us here at Campus Martius Museum on December 29 as the Putnam house and museum come alive with music from our pioneer past.
